Two Illustrations by Conrad Javier
Conrad Javier: Two Illustrations
Conrad Javier is an illustrator from Forest Park, IL. His work has been shown at the Zhou B Gallery, The Hope For A Day Show, Zatfig Zine, on the label of an Arcade Brewery Craft Beer. He has also been shown at the Complex Pop-Up art shows. You can find more of his work on his website.
Portraits With a Life of Their Own
Conrad’s illustrations look like they’re autonomous. They are youthful, confident, bright, substantial, and jubilant. Then they’re emotive, personal, and singular, either on the computer or on the page. A scroll through Conrad’s catalog is a scroll through the work of a consummate, well-rounded artist.
Conrad’s confidence is evident in his work. His fluency in different genres and mediums negates any “lofty art” assumption that would otherwise tether his work too closely to pretentiousness. Instead, he plays with his subjects’ fun. That same fluency draws us into his subjects’ power and personality.
